The 47th edition of the American Music Awards took place last night at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, USA. The event was watched live by millions of people via social media and the ABC channel.
There were a total of thirty categories for the awards, with jubilant fans rooting for their idols both in the USA and from afar, including Pakistani fans of BTS who were wishing that their heroes will succeed in their nominated categories.

- Favourite Male Artist – POP/Rock: Khalid
- Favourite Album – Soul/R&B: Khalid
- Favourite Song – Soul/R&B: Khalid
- Favourite Duo or Group – Country: Dan + Shay
- Favourite Song – Country: Dan + Shay
- Favourite Female Artist – Country: Carrie Underwood
- Favourite Album – Country: Carrie Underwood
- New artist of the Year: Billie Eilish
- Favourite Artist – Alternative Rock: Billie Eilish
- Collaboration of the Year: Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello
- Favourite Song – POP/Rock: Halsey
- Favourite Male Artist – Country: Kane Brown
- Favourite Album – RAP/HIP-HOP: Post Malone
- Favourite Song – RAP/HIP-HOP: Lil Nas X ft. Billy Ray Cyrus
- Favourite Male Artist: Soul/R&B: Bruno Mars
- Favourite Female Artists: Soul/R&B: Beyonce
- Favourite Artist – Latin: J Balvin
- Favourite Artist – Contemporary Inspirational: Lauren Daigle
- Favourite Artist – Electronic Dance Music (EDM): Marshmello
- Favourite Soundtrack: Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen
As the above list illustrates, Taylor Swift came on top with six awards; and, BTS and Khalid came in joint second place with three awards each. Meanwhile, Dan + Shay, Carrie Underwood and Billie Eilish came in joint third place with two awards each.
Many BTS fans were incredibly happy and excited to see their idols win all the awards they were nominated for. For example, the admin of Pak ARMYs Instagram fan account told me that they are “very happy that BTS won all the awards. They deserved it and I hope that they always get success and be happy!”
In addition, the admin of the BTS Pak Voting Twitter account expressed their “congratulations to worldwide fanbases who worked so hard for AMAs; this is what BTS deserves and we will work even harder in the future as well to make BTS victorious on each platforms”.
Similarly, the famous fanbase account BTS Pak Official also congratulated fellow fans and BTS. They tweeted: “Congratulations @BTS_twt for winning big at the AMAs”. BTS Pak Official also reminded their followers that BTS won all 3 awards they were nominated for at the AMAs2019″.
