Voters in Epsom, Ewell, Ashtead and Leatherhead have welcomed Gina Miller’s vision for the constituency, at a local event on Thursday evening.
Gina Miller, leader of the True & Fair Party, laid out her vision for the constituency at a meeting at Ashtead Peace Memorial Hall.
In a thirty-minute address to Ashtead residents, Mrs Miller spoke of the policy proposals she would champion locally as well as nationally, stating that a wellbeing economy is essential to lessen the burden on the NHS and other public services.
Explaining her vision of a wellbeing economy, the True & Fair Party’s candidate said: “A thriving economy, fit for the future, should prioritise its people. We can do this through collaborative partnerships and innovative policies in our local area”.
Responding to questions from the audience, Mrs Miller, who is well known as an effective and successful decades-long campaigner, said that she wants to save the greenbelt sites in the area and will stand up to planning officers.
In response to another question, the candidate spoke passionately about regenerating the local high street, saying that her plans would ensure that the “online pays for the offline”.
The True & Fair Party leader, who defeated two Conservative Prime Ministers in the Supreme Court, also spoke about the impact Brexit is having on the NHS supply chain, revealing that there are some prescriptions which are already in short supply.
Speaking of her experience at the doorstep, Gina Miller claimed that Conservative voters don’t recognise their party anymore and that there are far too many people saying they won’t vote at this year’s General Election.
After the event, the True & Fair Party’s candidate for Epsom & Ewell took to social media to express her gratitude, saying “Thank you everyone who came along to Ashtead Memorial Hall this evening – great energy in the room! And thank you for saying you trust me to work hard for the constituency.
