Umar Rehman Malik’s picture with John Kerry, former United States Secretary of State, has rekindled memories of late Senator Rehman Malik, Pakistan’s longest serving Interior Minister.

Mr Umar Rehman Malik, head of PPP Digital Islamabad, recently met with John Kerry, who served as the 68th United States Secretary of State under President Barack Obama’s administration from 2013 to 2017. Mr John Kerry, most recently, served as the first ever U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate under President Joe Biden from 2021 to 2024.

In a picture posted on X, formerly Twitter, of himself and Mr Kerry, Mr Umar Rehman Malik said: “Pleasant surprise to run into Senator John Kerry in Dubai.”

“A moment filled with nostalgia as we fondly recollected memories of my late father Senator A. Rehman Malik. Grateful for the shared bond”, added Mr Umar Rehman Malik.

Late Senator Rehman Malik, who was the longest serving Interior Minister of Pakistan under President Asif Ali Zardari from 2008 to 2013, met with the then Secretary of State John Kerry more than a decade ago in Islamabad.

Social media users commented under Umar Rehman Malik’s picture, saying that it reminded them of when late Senator Rehman Malik, Mr Umar’s father, met the former U.S. Secretary of State.

“Very nice moment”, commented one social media user; whilst another one praised Mr Kerry by saying “nice to see him true friend of Pakistan”
