Since I started writing and reporting about BTS, I have had the opportunity to interact with many of their fans (who are also known as ARMYs). The more I have had the opportunity to interact with BTS fans, the more impressed I am by their positivity – not just in rhetoric but also in practice.

Now, I could list many things that I absolutely admire about BTS fans. But, in this article I will just mention the two things that have thoroughly amazed me.

Charitable

The immensely charitable nature of BTS fans is highly applaudable and incredibly encouraging. In the past few months alone, I have seen many fans donate to charities on the birthdays of individuals BTS members.

A current example of it is BTS Pak Official, who are raising funds for a benevolent cause as illustrated in the below tweet:

This is the kind of behaviour that should also be encouraged among other fandoms. In fact, this is the sort of behaviour that should be encouraged among every youth.

Seeing BTS fans doing similar kinds of charitable projects just fills one’s heart with positivity.

Family-like-Environment

BTS fans are not just a fandom, it feels like they are a family: people who share similar values, fans who support each other and people who celebrate together whenever there is a BTS related update.

From a sociological perspective, this family-like-environment is astounding because it transcends nation-state borders, language barriers and cultural backgrounds. This may sound trivial to some but creating a family-like-environment on a global scale and in a relatively short amount of time is an achievement in itself. This is certainly not something that other fandoms can even think of replicating, even if they tried.

This is not just a one-off instance. I have observed this sort of a welcoming and supportive environment almost on a daily basis on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
