Sir Keir Starmer, the leader of the Labour party, has expressed his well wishes to those ‘welcoming in the month of Ramadan’. He expressed his best wishes on social media via a video message.
He tweeted the heartfelt message last night after it was announced that many Muslims would be starting Ramadan today, on Friday. He also used the opportunity to express his gratitude to the Muslims working in the NHS and in other key services.
“I want to take this opportunity to pay tribute to all the Muslims working in our NHS, our care service and everywhere on the front line of our fight against coronavirus.”, said Sir Keir Starmer.
“Thank you for keeping us safe”, added the recently elected Labour leader and former Shadow Brexit Secretary.
Many public figures welcomed Keir Starmer’s message to the Muslim community in Britain. “Excellent message by Keir Starmer welcoming the month of #Ramadan”, tweeted Miqdaad Versi, the media spokesperson for the Muslim Council of Britain.
