Switzerland’s Ambassador to Oman, Thomas Oertle, also shared his insights, stating:”A productive meeting today between Hon. @AndreaCaroniAR, President of the Council of States (@ParlCH), and HE Sheikh Taher Al Junaibi, Deputy Chairman of @ShuraCouncil_OM, emphasized strengthening bilateral relations.”
Oman’s Shura Council echoed the sentiment in their own tweet: “His Excellency Sheikh Taher Al Junaibi, Vice President of #مجلس_الشورى, receives the Honorable Dr. Andrea Claudio, President of the Swiss Council of States, and his accompanying delegation. During the meeting…The strong bilateral relations between the two friendly countries were praised. Emphasizing the importance of enhancing cooperation in various fields and strengthening existing cooperation between legislative institutions.”
Context
This meeting marks a significant step forward in Swiss-Omani relations as both countries celebrated 50 years since diplomatic relations were first established between the two, and 10 years since Switzerland officiated its embassy in Oman.
