- 106 out of 107 councils have declared thus far.
- Labour are on 1,140 councillors (+185)
- Conservatives are on 513 councillors (-473)
- Liberal Democrats are on 521 councillors (+104)
- Independents and others are on 285 councillors (+110)
- The Green Party is on 181 councillors (+74)
It’s 7.45am on Saturday 4 May 2024:
- 102 out of 107 councils have declared thus far.
- Labour are on 1026 councillors (+173)
- Conservatives are on 479 councillors (-448)
- Liberal Democrats are on 505 councillors (+101)
- Independents and others are on 224 councillors (+92)
- The Green Party is on 159 councillors (+65)
It’s 4.30pm:
- 73 out of 107 councils have declared thus far.
- Labour are on 738 councillors (+115)
- Conservatives are on 284 councillors (-281)
- Liberal Democrats are on 242 councillors (+43)

- Conservatives are on 117 councillors (-122)
- Liberal Democrats are on 114 councillors (+18)
- Independents and others are on 65 councillors (+39)
- The Green Party is on 21 councillors (+13)
It’s 7.30am:
- 35 of 107 councils have been declared thus far.
- The Green Party currently has 21 councillors, a gain of 13; “The Greens, some spectacular gains…they may be heading for their best performance yet in English local elections”, said Professor John Curtice to Laura Kuenssberg on BBC News.
It’s 6am:
- 34 of 107 councils have been declared thus far.
- Of the councils that have been declared thus far, Labour have won 17, gaining 3; Liberal Democrats have won 4; Conservatives have won 3, thereby losing 3; there are 10 councils with No Overall Control.
It’s 5.30am:
- Labour gain from the Conservatives, Chris Webb is the new MP for Blackpool South.
- Labour have won in Redditch.
- Liberal Democrats hold Gosport.
- Liberal Democrats
It’s 4.30am:
- Liberal Democrats gain 4 councillors in Fareham.
It’s 4am:
- Liberal Democrats hold Eastleigh
- Liberal Democrats hold Kingston upon Hull
- Liberal Democrats gain 3 councillors in Rochford, overtaking the Conservatives on the Council.
It’s 3am:
- Labour have won in Thurrock.
- Labour have won in Rushmoor.
- Liberal Democrats win 7 councillors in Newcastle upon Tyne
It’s 2am: Labour have won in Hartlepool.
It’s 10pm: polling stations have now closed.
