Support for Jo Platt, Labour and Co-operative parliamentary candidate for the new constituency of Leigh and Atherton, is increasing as a huge majority of voters want her as the next Member of Parliament.
Jo Platt previously won the old constituency of Leigh in 2017, when Andy Burnham resigned to successfully run for the Mayoralty of Greater Manchester. Jo Platt, at the 2017 General Election, won the old constituency of Leigh with a whopping majority of 9,554 votes.
Prior to entering national politics, Jo Platt did excellent work in successfully representing her local community as a councillor for the Astley and Mosley Common ward of Wigan Council. Whilst representing the local community, Jo Platt also served as a Cabinet member with the portfolio for children and young people.
It is because of the excellent work that Jo Platt did as a councillor and, after that, as a Member of Parliament that the constituents of Leigh and Atherton want her to represent them again in Westminster Parliament, residents tell me.
YouGov’s latest MRP poll for next month’s General Election reveals that there is a huge appetite for Jo Platt’s vision for the constituency and the Labour Party’s vision for Britain.
The wish to see Jo Platt in Parliament again was also highlighted by lots of people turning up to the launch of the local General Election campaign, with plenty of sign-ups to volunteer.
