IMD ranks Switzerland at #2 in the World for Digital Competitiveness

IMD, the International Institute for Management Development, has ranked Switzerland at number 2 in the world for digital competitiveness.

Switzerland is preceded by Singapore and ahead of Denmark in the rankings this year. This year’s rankings represent an improvement for all countries in the top three compared to 2023.

IMD’s most recent rankings illustrate a major improvement in Switzerland’s performance as the country was ranked at number 5 in 2023, marking a 3 spot improvement in this year’s rankings to number 2.

Reaction

Responding to the positive news, the social media account for About Switzerland, stated that “Thanks to its outstanding performance, Switzerland moves up three places this year to reach the 2ᵉ position”.

Eugène Schön, who is an innovation and new media blogger, responded to the positive development by stating that “Switzerland has risen to second place among 67 countries, marking its best ranking since the WDCR’s inception in 2017”.

Context

The countries, meanwhile, that dropped by the biggest margins in the top 10 include the United States of America and the Netherlands. The USA dropped by 3 positions to number 4 and the Netherlands by 6 positions to number 8.
