In a major step towards bridging the gender gap in Pakistan’s digital economy, the groundbreaking ceremony of the Women’s Centre of Excellence for Digital & Hi-Tech Skills was held on Tuesday in Peshawar. The initiative, supported by #TeamEurope, aims to empower young women in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Gilgit-Baltistan with cutting-edge technological skills, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT), and Data Science.

The announcement was made via a tweet by @EUPakistan, highlighting the European Union’s commitment to promoting gender-inclusive economic growth in Pakistan. The establishment of this state-of-the-art training facility is expected to equip women with essential digital skills, enabling them to participate in and contribute to the rapidly evolving tech industry.

With Pakistan’s digital economy growing at an unprecedented pace, initiatives like the Women’s Centre of Excellence play a crucial role in ensuring equal opportunities for women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. The centre will offer specialised training programs designed to enhance employability, entrepreneurship, and innovation among young women in traditionally underrepresented regions.

As Pakistan strengthens its digital infrastructure, initiatives like this pave the way for a more inclusive and technology-driven future. By training young women in AI, Robotics, IoT, and Data Science, the Women’s Centre of Excellence will help cultivate a new generation of tech leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators in the country.

The collaboration between Pakistan and Team Europe marks a significant milestone in fostering international partnerships for sustainable development. With the launch of this centre, Pakistan is set to make strides towards digital literacy, economic empowerment, and gender equality in technology.
