Gina Miller’s political party, True & Fair, which was officially launched last year in January, has published the first part of its pre-election manifesto and unveiled two more candidates for the next General Election.
The announcement came at a packed venue in the heart of Westminster, just a few steps away from the Houses of Parliament.
In a statement to the press, Gina Miller – who is most known for her two successful court cases against the governments of Theresa May and Boris Johnson – said that “The UK is supposed to be one of the world’s great democracies, a beacon to the world. Instead, we suffer from a pound shop parliament, which has been cheapened by successive Conservative administrations that treat our political institutions with contempt.
Mrs Miller further stated that “It is time for serious political and electoral reform to make sure that our system can no longer be abused by those who believe they are entitled to power. These reforms are the antidote to parliament’s poisonous environment. We’ve got to stop the rot in Westminster.”
Pictures posted on social media show that the much awaited event was incredibly busy and attended by a number of high-profile journalists.
At the event, Gina Miller – the leader of the True & Fair Party – was accompanied by her fellow candidates, two of which were announced today, including: Georgia Elliot-Smith, who will be standing against Oliver Dowden MP, and Jonathan Tod, who will be standing against Suella Braverman MP.
This brings the total number of candidates standing for the True & Fair Party to nine.
