Gina Miller – leader of the True & Fair Party, and prospective parliamentary candidate for Epsom & Ewell – visited the ‘Forget Me Not’ memorial garden on World Mental Health Day.
Located in Epsom, ‘Forget Me Not’ is a memorial garden for Horton Cemetery and is of international significance. The memorial, according to the The Epsom Horton, is a “moving temporary outdoor installation”, which includes “the installation of more than 1500 ceramic flowers – each one painted individually by members of the public”.
The memorial is going to be on display for a month, starting on World Mental Health Day in October and ending on Remembrance Day in November.
The opening day of the memorial was attended by hundreds of people, according to pictures posted on various social media platforms. Visitors included councillors, local community leaders, health professionals as well as the general public.
The opening day of the exhibition was also attended by a great number of young people from the local area.
Meanwhile, in a social media post published by Gina Miller’s True & Fair Party, it said: “a wonderful celebration from all involved in the 1500 ceramic flowers, painted by the public unveiled at #HortonHall #WorldMentalHealthDay in memory of the 9000 patients who died in Epsom Cluster Psychiatric Hospitals and buried in unmarked graves”.
