Gary Lineker, who used to play for England’s football team and is now a sports commentator, has decided to donate two months’ worth of his salary. He is donating this money to the British Red Cross.

He chose British Red Cross as the destination of his generous donation because they are ‘doing vital work for the most vulnerable during the Coronavirus crisis.’

The ex-footballer also admitted on Twitter that he feels ‘incredibly fortunate to be able to do this’. As a sports commentator, Mr Gary Lineker is currently the highest paid staff member at the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

Mr Lineker announced the news of his donation to the British Red Cross yesterday on Twitter, where he also asked others to also donate to the British Red Cross. ‘If you’d like to join in, it’d be greatly appreciated.’, he posted on social media.
