Going to Confiserie Bachmann is absolutely essential when you’re visiting Basel, a city widely regarded as the cultural capital of Switzerland – that is if you want to experience authentic Swiss confectionary delight.
Branched out across three different locations across Switzerland’s cultural capital, there is an outlet nearby whether you need a break after exploring Basel’s historical Rathaus (German word for City Hall), or if you have just arrived by train at Bahnhof SBB or if you have been shopping in the city centre.
I, personally, love going to the Schifflände branch of Confiserie Bachmann because, when sitting outside, it allows me to immerse myself in Switzerland’s city life, observe the trams (I have a particular fondness for Basel’s public transport system, especially its trams) and, most importantly, it’s incredibly close to the Rhein river.
Greeted by its lovely staff at the Schifflände branch, I could not decide what I should get when I was at Confiserie Bachmann recently. The options are numerous, the presentation delightful and it all looks very delicious.
In the end, I decided to opt for the a piece of their delicious chocolate cake and a cappuccino – all made to my liking, with a heavy touch of Swiss perfection.
Next time, however, I am going to try out some of their other delicious and mouthwatering items, such as: Basler Läckerli, the Basler Trümmeli and their FB Basel themed confections.
