In a further breeze of change, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has invited the world famous K-POP group, BTS, to perform in the country.

According to initial details, the K-POP group will be performing in the Kingdom’s capital Riyadh, which is located east of the twin holy cities of Makkah and Medina. They will be performing later this year on 11 October at the King Fahd International Stadium.

The event in Saudi Arabia will be part of BTS’ “Love Yourself: Speak Yourself” world tour.

Their expected visit has already produced divided opinions on whether they should be allowed to perform in Saudi Arabia’s capital city or not.

A number of Muslim fans of BTS in Saudi Arabia have expressed delight and excitement that they will get to enjoy live music from one of the most renowned artists in the world.

Tanuj Garg, a Bollywood producer, also expressed his optimism at the news of BTS visiting Riyadh. In a tweet, he stated: “Things are changing in the Kingdom. The success of this show could open doors to endless opportunities and possibilities.”

However, conservative commentators have said that the K-POP group should not be allowed to perform in the country because it transgresses the country’s Islamic traditions.

Others have condemned BTS for performing in a country which does not respect LGBT rights as well as the rights of women and of religious and ethnic minorities.
