BTS, the world-renowned South Korean group, continue to achieve new records with their amazing Map of the Soul: 7 album. The album was only released towards the end of February but has continued to achieve huge milestones in a very limited amount of time.
What’s even more interesting about their new record is the fact that it breaks their own record from last year.
The group’s most recent Guinness World Record achievement is for achieving “best-selling album (South Korea) with Map of the Soul: 7”, according to the official Twitter account of Guinness World Records.
Elaborating on the achievement even further, the below tweet stated that “As of June 2020, it had sold 4,265,617 copies including 2.65 million of those in the first six hours.”
While it has become a common sight for BTS to break records and achieve new milestone, this latest record is unique because it shows that BTS are their own competitor and are in a league of their own.
This is highlighted by the fact that their latest Guinness World Record for Map of the Soul:7 smashed their own record from last year for Map of the Soul: Persona.
Last year the group achieved this record because Map of the Soul: Persona sold 3,399,302 copies in South Korea as of May 2019. In contrast, Map of the Soul: 7 has sold nearly a million more copies than last year’s album as of June 2020.
