Muhammad Khalid Ejaz, recently met with Professor Paulo Águas, Rector of the University of Algarve. The meeting highlighted the increasing presence of Pakistani students at the institution and explored avenues for enhanced cooperation in marine sciences, oceanography, and the blue economy.

The University of Algarve, located in southern Portugal, has become a notable destination for international students, including a growing cohort from Pakistan. Recognised for its research excellence, the university provides a unique platform for students from Pakistan to engage in cutting-edge studies and contribute to the global knowledge economy.

Commenting on the meeting, the Embassy of Pakistan to Portugal posted: “they discussed the growing number of Pakistani students enrolled at the University and the need to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in marine sciences, oceanography, and the blue economy”.

This development underscores the broader diplomatic efforts to strengthen Pakistan-Portugal relations, particularly in education and research. With both countries recognising the strategic importance of marine ecosystems and sustainable practices, this collaboration could serve as a model for other international partnerships.
