Lovers of all things chocolates just like me? Then you have got to visit Switzerland’s chocolate museum, the Lindt Home of Chocolate in Zürich. It’s a heavenly abode for chocolate lovers and connoisseurs; history geeks and inquisitors; and, bakers and cooks wanting a lesson or two in making high quality, premium and mouthwatering chocolates at home.
For someone who has a sweet tooth and finds comfort in chocolates, cakes, sweets, candies and snacks, visiting the Lindt Home of Chocolate in Zürich was a dream come true.
It is like the movie ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ but far better than that because it is real. Much better than the movie because the staff are lovely, welcoming and cheerful; the chocolate, as one would expect of Lindt, is the finest of its kind not to be found anywhere else; and the atmosphere is one of warmth, so much so that one doesn’t really want to leave Switzerland’s chocolate museum behind.
What can you do at Switzerland’s chocolate museum, the Lindt Home of Chocolate in Zürich?
The Lindt Home of Chocolate has something to offer for everyone.
I, for instance, took a tour which covered the origins of chocolate, how it’s made, the vital innovation of Swiss pioneers that made Switzerland the home of premium, high-quality and mouthwatering chocolates that it is today, and the modern machinery, as well as historical ways, to make melt-in-your-mouth chocolates.
This must-to-be-experienced tour, far more importantly, also has chocolate tasting stations, which is absolutely phenomenal. Simply awesome.
You can, with a spoon, try various flavours of liquid chocolate, which, as the winter is already upon us, is an ideal way to consume chocolate if you want to stay warm.
The next chocolate tasting station allows you to eat chocolate bits of different flavours, which are automatically dispensed as soon as you put your hand underneath the dispenser. Very high tech! I must say.
This isn’t all though.
The subsequent part of the tour includes tasting the countless flavours of Lindt’s Lindor – and, boy oh boy! There are flavours that I have never ever tasted before. Supermarkets in the United Kingdom, and I would very much urge them to do so, should order a wider variety of Lindor flavours. Pretty please. I will, otherwise, need to fly to Zürich every other week to do my chocolate shopping.
And, no! This isn’t all.
The subsequent part of the tour, as you can see from my video above, involves scanning your ticket on a screen which kick starts a gold-coloured ball rolling through Lindt themed labyrinth or maze put up on a wall that culminates in to a delicious chocolate being dispensed. You would have see it, to believe it!
Recommendation
Visiting Switzerland’s chocolate museum, the Lindt Home of Chocolate in Zürich, was one of the main highlights of my visit to Switzerland. I would absolutely recommend you to put them on your itinerary when you’re visiting Switzerland next time. It’s a must have experience.
I loved it so much that I really want to go again, and it’s advisable to book well in advance if you’re planning to go because demand is incredibly high.
